Winifred Sides Stone passed away peacefully at her home in Millersville on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the age of 83. Winifred Sides Stone passed away peacefully at her home in Millersville on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Stone was born March 31, 1926, in the Neely's Landing area, a daughter of Louis Henry and Hattie May Smith Golden.

She grew up and attended High Hill School and was a member of the High Hill Church of God in the Neely's Landing area.

She and Clyde Sides were married Aug. 23, 1941, and he passed away Dec. 14, 1966. She later married Bill Stone on May 24, 1968, and he survives.

She worked at Jackson Manor for a number of years, but she was mostly a stay-at-home mom, raising and caring for her seven children, who survive: Deanna Meehan of Jackson, Mike (Margaret) Sides and Kenny (Dorothy) Sides of Oak Ridge, the Rev. Janet (Terry) Hopkins of Burfordville, Sheila (Ron) Hecht of Fruitland, Lesa (Wayne) Brotherton of Millersville and Roger Stone of Beaumont, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters, Wilma Nunn of Cape Girardeau and Wanda Weibrecht of Crosstown, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Winstead, chaplain of the VNA, officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
