PIEDMONT -- Funeral service for Wilson Abernathy of Piedmont was held Monday at Ruegg Funeral Home. Burial was in Flatwoods Meador Cemetery.
Abernathy, 83, died Friday, Aug. 23, 1996, in Piedmont.
He was born Feb. 12, 1913, in Leemon, son of Fred and Bertha Sides Abernathy. He and Dorothy Ridgeway were married Dec. 15, 1940. She preceded him in death.
Abernathy was a maintenance engineer at a paper mill in Washington state from 1955-68. He moved to Piedmont in 1971. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, and was a musician in the Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald and Larry Abernathy of Piedmont, Bob Abernathy of Patterson; a daughter, Barbara Magill of Park Hills; five sisters, Ellen Clippard, Virginia Seabaugh and Hilda Trimble, all of Jackson, Norma Thompson of Sun City, Ariz., Betty Collischonn of San Rafael, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
