Wilman H. Fluegge, 76, of Whitewater died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 23, 1928, in Burfordville, son of Edwin and Laura Aufdenberg Fluegge. He grew up on the family farm in Burfordville and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, of which he was a lifelong member. Wilman H. Fluegge, 76, of Whitewater died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 23, 1928, in Burfordville, son of Edwin and Laura Aufdenberg Fluegge.

He grew up on the family farm in Burfordville and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, of which he was a lifelong member. He was a 1946 graduate of Jackson High School.

He and Elizabeth "Betty" Mavers were married April 11, 1958, in Tilsit.

Mr. Fluegge was a lifetime farmer and was employed with The Ceramo Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1993.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald W. and Wilma Fluegge of Whitewater; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Fluegge McClanahan and R. Collin McClanahan of Gordonville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Herb Weinhold of Perryville, Alice and Glen Birk of Jackson; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Nancy Fluegge of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; four grandchildren, Anna Fluegge, who is in college at Springfield, Mo., Daniel Fluegge of Whitewater, Troy-Lee and Lauren McClanahan of Gordonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and an infant granddaughter.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and Sunday after 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church in Tilsit, with the Rev. Mark Boettcher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Tilsit, American Stroke Association, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
