Wilma Anna Bangert Ruppel, 100, of Oak Ridge passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 4, 1923, in Lixville, Missouri, to Robert and Caroline Pohlman Bangert. She and Harlan Ruppel were married April 25, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, also the church of her confirmation and lifelong membership. Their marriage was blessed with four children, and they had been married nearly 59 years when Harlan passed away Jan. 3, 2002.
Wilma helped Harlan on their family farm near Friedheim. She also worked 15 years as a med-tech at Perry County Nursing Home.
Wilma was an accomplished quilter and especially enjoyed quilting with friends at Trinity Church in Friedheim and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. She taught Sunday school at Trinity and was a leader in the Arnsberg 4-H Club.
Loving survivors include three children, Ronald (Judy) Ruppel of Oak Ridge, Clinton (Christine) Ruppel of Jackson and Susan (Jack) Ervin of Tiptonville, Tennessee; five grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; eight great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters-in-law, Lamia (late Tony) Bangert of Patton, Missouri, and Judy (late Lonnie) Bangert of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; an infant grandson; a stepgrandson; her parents; and five siblings, Tony Bangert, Ervin (Marilyn) Bangert, Stella (Walter) Uhlig, Lonnie Bangert and Gilbert Bangert.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday, Nov. 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.
The Rev. Paul Hoemann will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the church. Interment will follow at Sedgewickville (Missouri) Lixville Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Sedgewickville Lixville Cemetery or Trinity Lutheran Church.
