Wilma Christine Foster, 63, a longtime pastor's secretary at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997.
She was born March 17, 1934, in Hugo, Okla., daughter of William and Winnie Fennel Scantling.
On March 5, 1955, she married Robert Foster at Seminole, Texas. He survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Joseph Foster of St. Louis, and Allan Foster of San Antonio; a daughter, Anne Foster of St. Louis; five brothers, William Scantling of Stockton, Calif., Sidney Scantling of Comanche, Texas, Leroy Scantling of Big Spring, Texas, Donald Scantling of Buffalo, Wyo., Bob Scantling of Los Lunas, N.M.; three sisters, Dorothy Ornelas of Carlsbad, N.M., Margaret Lee of Aztec, N.M., Betty Brown, Griffin, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
She had worked for many years as the pastor's secretary at First Baptist Church. She also taught in the children's division for many years. She was a past president of the Women's Missionary Union at the church.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Owen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
