Wilma Alberta Edwards, 89, of Tiptonville, Tenn., died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg, Tenn.
She was born Feb. 9, 1920, in New Madrid, Mo., daughter of Frank W. and Bertha B. Bratton Basham. She and Virgil A. Edwards were married April 14, 1946.
Edwards was a graduate of Kennett, Mo., High School. She lived in Caruthersville, Mo., where she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, its Presbyterian Women and choir. She was also a member of American Legion and VFW auxiliaries, and Auxiliary of the Gideons. She was a member and elder of Tiptonville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Edward Wadley of Easton, Md., Alan Edwards of Tiptonville, John D. Edwards of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Cheryl Campbell of Tiptonville; a brother, Frank Basham of New Madrid; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, two stepdaughters and a brother.
The funeral was held Monday at the Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, with the Revs. Paul Currie and Gene Canestrari officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
