WILLIE STROUD

MCCLURE, Ill. -- Willie Stroud, 79, of McClure, died at 4:09 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 5, 1912, in Searcey, Ark., daughter of Ed and Iva Ballard Edwards.

She married J. Barnett Adams in 1927 at Bardwell, Ky. He died in 1952.

She had been a resident of McClure for the past 20 years, having moved here from Gary, Ind. She was raised near Cairo.

She worked at Southern Oil Co. in Cape Girardeau, and was retired from the Anna International Shoe Co. For the past 10 years, she helped her daughter operate Witz's Family Restaurant in East Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors are a daughter, Betty Colyer, East Cape Girardeau; a son, J. Hugh Adams, Denver, Colo.; a sister, Estelle Stapleton, McClure; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery at Bardwell, Ky.
