EAST PRAIRIE -- Willie Marks, 72, of East Prairie died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Appleton, Tenn., son of Clarence and Cleoria Flatt Marks. He and Dorothy M. Burney were married Nov. 7, 1944. He later married Helen Whitlock Feb. 5, 1971.
Marks lived in Mississippi County most of his life, and was a retired farmer. He attended First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; five children, William and Kem Marks of Sikeston, Stella Marcum, Judy Bramlett and Lisa Cogdill of East Prairie; two brothers, E.J. and Malcolm Marks of East Prairie; four sisters, Wyvon Wallace, Gladys Burney and Opal Sanders of East Prairie, Marie Jones of Tiptonville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Bob Williams and Raymond Linley officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
