William Perry Wright Jr., 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 28, 1912, in Charleston, Mo., son of William Perry and Blanche Hadassah Mitchell Wright. He married the former Ernestine Gilmore. Wright was a 1930 graduate of Charleston High School, attended St. Louis University, the University of Missouri, and Tulane University. He was admitted to the Missouri Bar Association, and practiced law with the Joslyn and Joslyn law firm in Charleston...

William Perry Wright Jr., 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 28, 1912, in Charleston, Mo., son of William Perry and Blanche Hadassah Mitchell Wright. He married the former Ernestine Gilmore.

Wright was a 1930 graduate of Charleston High School, attended St. Louis University, the University of Missouri, and Tulane University. He was admitted to the Missouri Bar Association, and practiced law with the Joslyn and Joslyn law firm in Charleston.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1939. He served during World War II and was recalled when the Korean War started, retiring in 1967 with the rank of colonel.

Wright then lived in Jefferson City, Mo., where he was director of Missouri Board of Liquor Control.

He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Association of Japanese-American War Veterans, Missouri Bar Association, and Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, William Wright of Sammamish, Wash., James Wright of Longview, Wash., Russell Wright of Linden, Texas; a daughter, Juanita Allen of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Henry Wright of Mountain Home, Ark.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at First Christian Church in Charleston after 10 a.m. Saturday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Charleston, with military graveside rites conducted by U.S. Army personnel from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
