CHAFFEE, Mo. -- William "Ed" White, 90, of Chaffee died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
He was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Chaffee to William Henry White and Virgin Minnie Slinkard. He and Dessie Jones were married June 21, 1941. She died on March 1, 2002.
He retired from the Florsheim Shoe Co. in Chaffee and was a member of Chaffee VFW Post 3127.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a tank gunner during the Italian Campaign and received three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include a son, Larry White of Chaffee a daughter, Phyliss Glueck of Chaffee; four sisters, Mary Dennis of Chaffee, Camille Crumbaugh of Springfield, Ill., Carol Morris Whitler of Jackson and Martha Stanridge of Sikeston, Mo.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four stepgrandhildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with the Revs. Jack Hargraves and Bob Lewis officiating.
Burial will take place at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
