William M. "Jack" Vaughan Jr., 90, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Vaughan was born June 28, 1921, in Vermillion County, Ind., to William M. and Mabel Willis Vaughan. He and Erma Jean Malugen were married March 31, 1967, at Sikeston, Mo.
Vaughan was of the Methodist belief. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, being involved in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. Vaughan was a superintendent of operations of construction on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
Survivors include his wife Erma Jean Vaughan of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Gregory Vaughan of Red Oak, Texas, Michael Vaughan of Ashburn, Va., and Rick Venson of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Ann Rene Patton of Ashburn and Dianne LaCroix (Larry) of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Jason LaCroix (Jaime) of Florence, Ky., and Jeffrey LaCroix (Tiffany) of Christiansburg, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Landon LaCroix of Florence and Gavin LaCroix of Christiansburg.
Vaughan was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Valerie Vaughan; and a brother, Ralph Vaughan.
A memorial service will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Burial will be at a later date at Miami Cemetery in Miami, Mo.
