JONESBORO, Ill. -- William Richard "Dicky" Tally, 55, of Jonesboro went home to live his life eternal Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011.
He was a Christian man of great faith and a friend to all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father and "daddo."
He was born Sept. 5, 1956, in Cairo, Ill., son of Jerry Donald and Rita Sue Parker Tally. He married his high school sweetheart, love of his life and best friend, Rhonda Vaughn, Aug. 18, 1978. Together they enjoyed 33 wonderful years and were blessed with two children.
Dicky is survived by his wonderful and loving wife, Rhonda Tally of Jonesboro; children, Nicki (Justin) Graham of Fayetteville, Tenn., Ryan (Jessie) Tally of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jacob and Logan Graham of Fayetteville; a brother, David (Ann) Tally of Jackson; a sister, Mona (Craig) Wells of Cape Girardeau; mother-in-law, Hazel Bennett Vaughn of Anna, Ill.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carla (Mike) Tally of Cobden, Ill., Mike (Becky) Vaughn of Bethalto, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Mary Jeno Parker and Mark and Emma Tally; and father-in-law, Carl Eugene Vaughn.
Dicky received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in criminal justice. He retired from Tamms Correctional Facility as a lieutenant in 2008.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cobden. He enjoyed playing his trumpet, singing at church and spending time with his family. He was also a member of Union County Country Club where he loved playing golf with Duane Bierstedt and many other close friends. His smile and great passion for life reflected his love for people and his Lord, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna, Ill. A celebration of Dicky's life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Scott Harner and the Rev. Allen Speer officiating.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jonesboro Cemetery, with Speer officiating.
Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.
