EAST PRAIRIE -- William Thomas Weems, 67, of East Prairie, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1992 at his home of an illness.
He was born Dec. 18, 1924 in Pope, Tenn., the son of James Irl and Buelah Stinnett Weems. He was a retired farmer and attended the Full Gospel Church.
He married Julie Malie Carlyle on Dec. 2, 1943 in Charleston. She survives.
Other survivors are one daughter, Joanne Cartwright of Canalou; seven sons, William Weems, Billy Weems, Roger Weems, Jerome Weems and Jerry Weems, all of East Prairie, Michael Weems of Sikeston and Gary Don Weems of Malden; three brothers, James Weems of Bismark, Ernest Weems of East Prairie and Bobby Weems of St. Louis; four sisters, Carman Barnes of Ridgley, Tenn., Golden Day of Bethalto, Ill., Faye McGill and Bonnie Carlyle, both of East Prairie; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Revs. Mike Johnson and Burl Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
