William M. Sutton, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Annapolis, Missouri, to Anthony and Mildred Kelly Sutton. He and Jean Parker were married Jan. 2, 1980. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Bill served his country in the Army National Guard.
He worked many years at Independent Tool and Die as a die maker. After retiring, he worked at Wal-Mart in Fort Myers, Florida, and Cape Girardeau, where he earned the nickname "May I help you Bill."
Bill was a member of LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was a hardworking, patriotic man who loved nature and enjoyed working outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Cape Girardeau; two sons, William J. Sutton of St. Louis and Thomas M. Sutton of Carthage, Illinois; two daughters, Ginger Anderson and Judy McClard of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Fallon N. Reed, Madison L. Sutton and Sean M. Sutton, all of Neosho, Missouri, Hannah Gandt of Columbia, Missouri, Robert Weir, Benjamin McClard and Erin McClard, all of Cape Girardeau; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering for family and friends will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Crain Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or LaCroix United Methodist Church (Feed My Starving Children), and will be accepted at the funeral home.
