FISK, Mo. -- William H. South Jr., 88, of Fisk died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 8, 1925, in Leighton, Ala., son of William and Bertha Buser South. He made his living as a farmer.
William served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a POW, having been captured at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was married to Juanita Stuckey. She preceded him in death Jan. 1, 2002.
Survivors include three sons, Randy, James and Tom; four daughters, Linda Chitwood, Janet South, Mary Meisel and Judy Aslin; a brother, Charles South; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to service time Saturday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Ash Hill Cemetery East at Fisk.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
