CHAFFEE -- William "Shorty" Simpson, 73, of Chaffee died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923, at Brownwood, son of Thomas Lewis and Mary Alvia Cooper Simpson. He and Laverne Glency were married Feb. 5, 1947.
Simpson was a retired carpenter, and member of VFW Post 3127. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald and Paul Simpson of Chaffee; four brothers, Kenneth Simpson of Advance, Milford Simpson of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jack Simpson of Chaffee, Roger Simpson of Altenburg; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Arvil Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3127.
