William Robert Sills, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Cairo, Ill., son of Walter and Margaret Watkins Sills. William Robert Sills, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Cairo, Ill., son of Walter and Margaret Watkins Sills.

Sills served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator during the Korean War from May 5, 1950, to May 4, 1953.

He also was a radio operator with Southern Pacific Railroad more than 25 years.

Survivors include a brother, Raymond Sills of Anna, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Lane of Cape Girardeau and Martha Flanary of East Alton, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
