William August Scott, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Delta, to Gordon and Roselee LeGrand Scott. He married Regina Halter in 1943 at Oran, Mo. He was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church in Scott City and a member of the VFW in Alaska.
Scott lived in Alaska for 47 years and was a bush pilot. He also owned and operated a construction company in Alaska. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three children. Surviving are nephews Joe and Judy Scott of Chaffee, Mo., Ronnie and Rachel Ratcliff and Paul Ratcliff, both of Alaska, Paul Brown and Luther Brown, both of Springfield, Mo.; nieces Lora Walters of Alaska, Sandy Hernandez of Texas, Linda Scott and Kathy Stacy of Florida and Daphney Heatley of St. Louis; 24 great-nieces and nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg St. Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Smithey Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
