William Doyle "Woody" Sadler, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Chaffee, Mo., son of Monroe C. and Ada Belle Roberts Sadler. He and Virgie Eaker were married May 17, 1942, in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Sadler had worked at Pipkin Boyd and Neal Packing Co., was a construction worker with Union Local 282, and worked at Superior Electric. He was a member of Red Star Baptist Church, former Sunday School teacher and church basketball coach.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Aug. 10, 1942, to June 29, 1945.
Survivors include his wife; four brothers, Don Sadler of Cape Girardeau, Norval Sadler of St. Louis, Harlan Sadler of Chaffee, Jerry Sadler of Marietta, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward "Cotton" Sadler.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jim Matthews and Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with full military honors.
