MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- William "Bill" Ashton Rives Jr., 92, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Laredo, Texas, to William Ashton and Elizabeth Mae Offer Rives. On June 3, 1954, he married Nell Rose Doss in Irving, Texas. She survives.

Rives had worked as a sales representative for Crane Plumbing, managed asphalt plants in Texas, Oklahoma and Baghdad. He also worked as a machinist at Missouri Dry Docks from 1970 to 1985. Rives was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marble Hill and a Navy and National Guard veteran. Besides his wife, Rives is survived by two daughters, Leah (Kurt) Kessel and Suzanne (Andy) Englehart; a son, Bill (Karen) Rives; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Marble Hill.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marble Hill Optimists Club.
