OLMSTED, Ill. -- William Carl "Bill" Richter, 84, of Olmsted passed away at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his residence. Bill was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Olmsted, son of the late Willie Arthur Richter and Carrie Jane (Miller) Richter. Bill was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War, and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Olmsted. He was a 30-year schoolteacher at Century School District 100 in Ullin, Illinois...

OLMSTED, Ill. -- William Carl "Bill" Richter, 84, of Olmsted passed away at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017, at his residence.

Bill was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Olmsted, son of the late Willie Arthur Richter and Carrie Jane (Miller) Richter.

Bill was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War, and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Olmsted. He was a 30-year schoolteacher at Century School District 100 in Ullin, Illinois.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Arthur Richter and Carrie Jane Voelker, and a sister, Selma Horton.

Survivors include his wife, Lois (Turner) Richter of Olmsted; a daughter, Linda Richter of Anna, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Brenda Richter of Cairo, Illinois; three grandchildren, Sara Richter, Laramie Lentz and Max Castle; and a sister, Anna Marie Nobbe of Coffeen, Illinois.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home Villa Ridge, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Paul Donner officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens Villa Ridge, with full military honors given by the Illinois National Guard Burial Team and area veterans.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Olmsted, in memory of William C. "Bill" Richter.
