CAIRO, Ill. -- Funeral service for William R. (Bill) Thompson of Centralia will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkett Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jerome Fortenberry will officiate.
The remains will be taken to Lacey, Wash., for a memorial service there.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
Thompson, 48 years old, died Friday, March 29, 1991, from injuries received in a car accident near Charleston, Mo.
He was boarn Feb. 19, 1943. in Cairo, son of Carl William and Lucille Leonie Gregory Thompson.
Thompson served in the U.S. Army 24 years, including three tours of duty in Vietnam, and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of a Lutheran Church and Cairo VFW Post 2649.
Survivors include his wife, Renate; a daughter, Christina Thompson of Lacey; two sons, Mike and Ralph Thompson of Lacey; his mother of Cairo; three sisters, Denise Doughty of Anna, Carla Lenerd of Sacramento, Calif., Maria Thompson of Cairo; a brother, Ronald Thompson of Centralia, and maternal grandmother, Clora Gregory of Cairo.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1970.
