SCOTT CITY -- William Riley Owens, 91, of Scott City, died Wednesday, July 13, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 26, 1902, in Louisville, Ill., son of Charles and Sarah Hartsey Owens. He and Alma Coomer were married Dec. 18, 1926, at Randles. She died March 29, 1985.
Owens had been a deck hand with U.S. Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1965. He was a member of Wesleyan Church, Scott City Senior Citizens, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 624.
Survivors include two sons, James Owens of Scott City, Morris Owens of Jackson; a daughter, Geneva Miskell of Scott City; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter, three brothers, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
