SIKESTON -- William Robert "Bob" Guthrie, 57, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, March 1, 1995, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 14, 1937, in Sikeston, son of Robert Logan and Winifred Hulen Guthrie. He and Joy Ann Layne were married June 26, 1958. He later married Violet Grigsby Oct. 30, 1989.
Guthrie owned and managed Home Materials Co. and was a teacher with Sikeston Public Schools. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Missouri National Guard, Special Olympics, and served on the Sikeston School Board three terms. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Guthrie of Sikeston; a daughter, Dawn Clark of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepson, Tim Grigsby of West Frankfort, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Stacy Grigsby of St. Peters; a sister, Barbara Hunes of Valencia, Calif., and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. Glen Bohannon officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
