CHAFFEE -- William Riley Alston, 79, of Chaffee, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 9, 1913, in Lansing, Kan., son of Grover Cleveland and Della Dalton Alston. He and the former Mabel Edwards were married July 1, 1932.
Alston was a retired inspector with Kaiser Aluminun Chemical Corp. in Chalmette, La. He moved here in 1976 from Chalmette.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chaffee, Chaffee Masonic Lodge 615 AF&AM, Valley of St. Louis, Scottish Rite, Orient of Missouri, Moolah Temple in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-53.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Billie Minor of Chaffee, Nancy Buyan of Florence, Ore.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Home at Chaffee is in charge of arrangements. There is no visitation or service. Burial will be at a later date in Springfield National Cemetery in Springfield.
