CHAFFEE, Mo. -- William J. "Bill" Pfefferkorn, 80, of Chaffee passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019.
He was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Chaffee to the late Paul and Marjorie Davidson Pfefferkorn. He married Mary Jo AuBuchon on Sept. 11, 1965, in St. Louis, and she survives of the home.
Bill was the owner of Chaffee Building Co. for 20 years until retiring in 1982. He owned and managed Coach Light Apartments in Scott City and Chaffee until October 2018.
He graduated from Missouri School of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, in 1961. Following graduation, he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 1963, he joined the Peace Corps, serving for two years in East Pakistan, what is now Bangladesh.
He was a member of Chaffee Chamber of Commerce and Jaycees.
He is survived by four daughters, Caroline "Pep" Pfefferkorn of Chaffee, Jeanne (Pete) Kielhofner of St. Charles, Missouri, Jodi Pfefferkorn of San Sebastian, Spain, and Kate (Scott) Mansker of Overland Park, Kansas; two sons, Andy (Jessica) Pfefferkorn of Panama City, Florida, and Gabe (Jana) Pfefferkorn of Paola, Kansas; a brother, David Pfefferkorn of Sikeston, Missouri; and a sister, Pat Vessell of Rolla. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Hayden and Giuliana Pfefferkorn, Will and C.J. Kielhofner, Lucy, Paul, Mary and Joe Pfefferkorn and Nate Mansker.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Pfefferkorn.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation. He will be cremated.
A celebration of life Mass will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at St. Ambrose Church in Chaffee. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a favorite charity.
