PERRYVILLE -- William "Bill" O. Alkemeyer. 85, of Perryville, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at his home.

He was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Bollinger County, son of Charles and Ella Ruessler Alkemeyer.

He married Grace Fear Jan. 24, 1947. She died May 21, 1982. He married Dorothy Buchheit Feb. 19, 1983. She survives.

He worked at Eastman Kodiak for 22 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, life member of American Legion Post 133 and Disabled American Veterans Post 45. He was an Army veteran of War World II, serving in 777th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He received the Certificate of Merit, WWII Victory Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Silver Battle Star, Bronze Battle Star and Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by a stepson, Jim Schott of Cape Girardeau; a stepdaughter, Diana Layton of Perryville; and three step-grandchildren.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Young & Sons Funeral Chapel at Perryville, with the Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. An American Legion wake service will be held at the funeral home at 7 tonight, followed by a VFW wake service at 7:15 and a DAV wake service at 7:30.
