CHAFFEE, Mo. — William G. "Bill" McFerron, son of the late G.E. "Bill" and Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell McFerron, was born Oct. 30, 1952, in Cape Girardeau and departed his life Monday, July 24, 2023 at his home in Chaffee at the age of 70 years.
​He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chaffee and a former employee of 38 years with Frisco, Burlington Northern and the BNSF Railway. Bill was member of Chaffee Historical Society and Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local Union No. 129, serving as the recording financial Secretary for several years, and was very active in several organizations in the Chaffee community.
​On Dec. 10, 1977, he was united in marriage to Alice Faye Tidwell. She survives of the home in Chaffee.
​After retirement, Bill enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events and farming with his friends. He also made sure to make his rounds to the Chaffee Rhodes for his daily cup of coffee and the Chaffee Nutrition Center.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Darin (Stephanie) McFerron of Chaffee; two daughters, Brooke (Jason) Harrell of Imperial, Missouri, and Megan McFerron of Chaffee; sister, Sarah Dumey of Bloomfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Kaitlin, Austin, Hayden, Khloe, Keller, Kasten, Nicholas, Lucas and Reese; and other relatives and friends.
​Celebration of life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Chaffee Historical Society or Chaffee Alumni Association.
