William Robert Martin Sr., 82, died Oct. 1, 2009, at his home in Cape Girardeau. He was born June 1, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Mich. He met and married the love of his life, Beulah Faye Held, on Aug. 17, 1947, and she preceded him in death July 15, 1989. 
He was a laborer and a butcher. William was a loving father and grandpa. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. 
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by four sons, William Martin Jr. of Kennewick, Wash., Steven Martin of Marble Hill, Mo., Raymond Martin and David Martin, both of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Wanda Gordon of McClure, Ill., Carla Gordon of Cape Girardeau, Darlene Tallman of Scott City, Vickie Brown of Morley, Mo., Lillian Williams of Primeville, Ore., Kimberly Damron of Waterloo, Ind; 40 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; nieces; nephews and other relatives.
Three daughters, two sisters, two brothers, two grandsons and a great-granddaughter preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Robert Smithey officiating.
Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce, Mo., with full military honors.
