William Loyd Tucker, Sr., 70, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born May 12, 1929 in Clemmons, N.C., the son of Harold and Jewell Davis Tucker. He married Dorothy Thornton September 9, 1950. She preceded him in death December 24, 1984.
Mr. Tucker grew up in Walkertown, N.C. He worked in sales from 1964 to 1998 for Canaday Sports in Wilmington, N.C. In 1998 he retired and moved to Cape Girardeau. Mr. Tucker was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include a son, William Tucker, Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Nora Mae Daniels of Walkertown, N.C., and Betty Helms of Fresno, Tex.; three grandchildren, Adam and Brian Tucker and Jill Tucker Norris.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Hayword-Miller Funeral Home in Winston-Salem, N.C. with services following at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Walkertown, N.C. Local arrangements handled by Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.
