DONGOLA, Ill. -- William J. Bracken, 98, of Dongola died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at the home of his daughter. He was born Feb. 23, 1900, at Anna to Esau and Kate McClain Bracken. He first married to Dorothy Fisher, who died March 22, 1944. On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Clara Duty, who died Aug. 12, 1979...

DONGOLA, Ill. -- William J. Bracken, 98, of Dongola died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at the home of his daughter.

He was born Feb. 23, 1900, at Anna to Esau and Kate McClain Bracken.

He first married to Dorothy Fisher, who died March 22, 1944. On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Clara Duty, who died Aug. 12, 1979.

He was a member of the Jonesboro Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sloan of Dongola; two sons, Esau Bracken of Wetaug and Junior Bracken of Dongola; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. Services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Green officiating. Burial will follow in Dongola American Legion Cemetery.
