MORLEY, Mo. -- William J. "Bill" "Blue Jay" Halley Jr., 76, of Morley died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 25, 1928, in Mount Vernon, Ill., son of William J. and Dorothy B. Carlton Halley Sr. He and Joyce Ann Joslin were married July 1, 1986, in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She died April 21, 2005.
Halley was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was then a police officer in Lake Park, Fla. He was a member of Morley Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Halley of St. Louis, Mark Halley of McDonough, Ga., Daniel Halley of Massachusetts; three daughters, Catherine Konecny of Elkhart, Ind., Shawn Doolittle of Havana, Fla., Michelle Halley of Montgomery, Ala.; a stepson, James Thompson of Charleston, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Maria Talley of Chaffee, Mo.; a sister, Linda Mugrage of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Davis officiating. Burial will be in Old Morley Cemetery with full military rites.
