William James "Jim" Gunn, 83, of Dexter, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, in Jackson. He was born Dec. 4, 1924, in St. Louis, son of William and Effie Swan Gunn. He and Lottie Mae Clark were married Oct. 18, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. He lived most of his life in Dexter and was a charter member of the First Pentecostal Church in dexter for more than 60 years...

William James "Jim" Gunn, 83, of Dexter, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, in Jackson.

He was born Dec. 4, 1924, in St. Louis, son of William and Effie Swan Gunn. He and Lottie Mae Clark were married Oct. 18, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.

He lived most of his life in Dexter and was a charter member of the First Pentecostal Church in dexter for more than 60 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Bregenzer of Pinehurst, Texas, Susan Hughes of Jackson; two brothers, Marion Gunn of Florissant, Mo., Kenneth Gunn of St. Louis; four sisters, Dorothy Cook of Advance, Mo., Morma Smith of Puxico, Mo., Nadine Wray of St. Louis, June Dixon of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter, with the Rev. Robert Bentley, the Rev. Ronnie Brown and the Rev. Joseph Geuin officiating. Burial will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter.
