William Joseph Glastetter, 88, of Scott City died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 18, 1921, at Kelso, Mo., to Paul Joseph and Anna Helen Scherer Glastetter. William married Bertha Agnes Backfisch Jan. 9, 1945, at Kelso.
William worked in maintenance at Thorngate Ltd. and was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edward Glastetter of Scott City, Gary Glastetter of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Linda Kesterson and Laverne Bader of Scott City; two brothers, Sylvester Glastetter of Kelso, John Glastetter of Scott City; five sisters, Aurelia Muster of Gordonville, Helen Vandeven of Leopold, Mo., Rita Kluesner of Chaffee, Mo., Coletta Neff of Waterloo, Ill., Bertha Seyer of Dutchtown; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Billy and Gerald Glastetter, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 6.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
