William "Bill" E. Franck, 78, of San Antonio went to be with his Lord Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010.

Bill was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County, to Ervin F. and Alma Schaefer Franck. He and Kay Steckler were married in 1952 at Hanover Lutheran Church. He was also baptized and confirmed at Hanover. Mr. Franck retired from the U.S. Air Force as a technical sergeant and lived in San Antonio. He was an avid square-dance caller for many years. Bill was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in San Antonio.

Surviving are his children Kathy Franck, William P. (Sandra) Franck; five grandchildren, Lisa Marie Franck, Katie (Robert) Nava, Danny (Amanda) Torres, Josie Torres and Bobby Torres; six great-grandchildren, Alyssandra, Lexi, William, Joshua, Jayden and Jacob of San Antonio; one brother, Ervin A. (Lucille) Franck Jr. of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Ruth Farrow and Ella (James) Sinn of Cape Girardeau, Shirley Josey of Scott City, Geraldine Mehrle of St. Louis and Ruby Moore of San Antonio; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin F. and Alma Schaefer Franck, wife, Kay Steckler, and two sisters Dorothy Haupt and Betty Schweer.

Burial was Sept. 1, 2010, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church Building Fund.
