William F. "Sandy" Sanders Sr., 81, of Sikeston, died Sunday, April 4, 1993, at his home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1911, in Sumter, S.C., son of Elijah and Mattie Sanders Sr. He and the former Patsy Pixley were married June 11, 1951, at Dexter.
Sanders was a gunnersmate in the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church, and Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF&AM.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, William Sanders Jr. of Conroe, Texas, Rickie Sanders of Sikeston; two daughters, Deborah Duncan and Brenda Williford of Sikeston; five brothers, Colclough and Elijah Sanders Jr. of Sumter, Frazier Sanders of Newberry, N.C., Charles Sanders of Athens, Ga., Furman Sanders of Fayetteville, N.C.; a sister, Cecila Burgess of South Carolina, and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kelly Grubbs will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today, with a Masonic service to be held.
