William Clark Evans, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, son of William Bernard and Venita Clark Evans. He and Dorthylyn Jane Kaltwasser were married Dec. 25, 1960 in Altenburg, Mo.

He graduated from Central High School in 1955, and from the National Institute of Drycleaning in Silver Springs, Md. Bill served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958.

Bill was in the drycleaning industry as owner of Sunshine Cleaners and Bill Evans The Drycleaner businesses, and as owner of Evans Equipment Co., installing laundry and drycleaning equipment in seven states. He retired in 1989. After retiring from the drycleaning industry, he worked part time for the Department of Public Safety at Southeast Missouri State University and later he was a part-time driver for the SADI transportation program.

He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel and a member of Southeast Missouri State University Foundation.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorthylyn; his mother, Venita Clark Evans of East Cape Girardeau, Ill.; two sons, William David Evans and Michael Clark Evans of Cape Girardeau; and two granddaughters, Brooke Anne and Amanda Mae Evans of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his father, William B. Evans.

Visitation will be Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel from 9 a.m. to service time.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel or Southeast Hospice Foundation.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
