PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- William G. Espy, 85, of Perryville died Monday, June 19, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Feb. 8, 1915, in St. Louis, son of Clarence P. and Annie Mueller Espy. He and Virginia K. Walker were married Jan. 14, 1984...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- William G. Espy, 85, of Perryville died Monday, June 19, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 8, 1915, in St. Louis, son of Clarence P. and Annie Mueller Espy. He and Virginia K. Walker were married Jan. 14, 1984.

Espy was a retired soil and water conservationist. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Men's Club, Rhododendron Society, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and life member of American Legion Post 133.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Virginia Hammack of St. Louis, Betty Haller of St. Peters; a son, Clarence "Bob" Espy of Rock Hill; a sister, Marjorie Robertson of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and Friday from 6:30-8:30 a.m.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Church, with the Rev. Craig Otto officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
