William Henry Eifert, 91, of Scott City died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 20, 1913, in Scott County, son of Daniel Ferdinand August and Pauline Katherine Will Eifert.
Eifert had been a line operator at General Motors. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City, and lifetime member of American Legion Post 369 at Benton, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Victory Medal and Army Occupation Japan Medal.
Survivors include a son, Billy Eifert of Scott City; a daughter, Kathy Payne of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Mildred Uelsmann and Elsie Eifert of Scott City, Cleta Glueck of Jackson; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Les and Dave Eifert; a sister, Marie Landgraf; and a granddaughter, Terri Billings.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bob Azinger officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
