TAMMS, Ill. -- William E. French, 67, of Tamms, Ill., died Saturday, June 12, 1993, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 8, 1925, at Humbolt, Tenn., son of James Albert and Affie Grover French.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy.

French retired from the Illinois Central Railroad.

Survivors include a son, Gary French of Jonesboro, Ill.; two daughters, Janie Bass of Urbandale, Ill., Connie French of Connecticut; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11:30 Tuesday at the Mound City National Cemetery.

Burial will follow.
