William D. Rushing, 78, of 747 Bellevue in Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 3, 1992, at his home.
He was born April 22, 1914, at Makanda, Ill., the son of Burrel F. and Loie Ann Rushing. On Aug. 16, 1936, he married Amy Lewis Campbell, who survives of the home.
He was a professor of education psychology at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau before his retirement in 1979.
He was a member of the American Association of University Professors and the Cape Girardeau Elk's Lodge. He also was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Williams of Ogden, Utah; a son John D. Rushing of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Helen Shallenberger of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau. Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
