CHAFFEE, Mo. — William “Glen” Crites Jr. 69, of Chaffee passed away Jan. 28, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 13, 1946, in Delta to the late William Glen and Norma Alleen Sanford Crites. He married Carolyn A Scheffer on June 1, 1968. Carolyn and Glen renewed their marriage vows June 6, 2015. They were married for 47 years...

CHAFFEE, Mo. — William “Glen” Crites Jr. 69, of Chaffee passed away Jan. 28, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 13, 1946, in Delta to the late William Glen and Norma Alleen Sanford Crites. He married Carolyn A Scheffer on June 1, 1968. Carolyn and Glen renewed their marriage vows June 6, 2015. They were married for 47 years.

Glen worked as a foreman for Florsheim Shoe Co. and later he was a foreman at Thorngate Ltd. Glen served in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War in The Big Red One, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.

His favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting and later he loved computers.

Glen is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Chaffee; a son, Bill (Theresa) Crites of Chaffee; a daughter, Yvonne Crites and Nat Choate of Chaffee; two sisters, Mary Horman and Diana “Sue” Copeland, both of Chaffee; five grandchildren, Lauryn (James) Crites Hecht, Harley Markhart, Taylor Crites, Cierra Crites and Skyler Markhart; and a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Hecht.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Michael Scheffer officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City. Pallbearers will be Bill Crites, Skyler Markhart, Larry Horman, Brian Mashek, Richard Sater and Nat Choate.
