William O. Cord, 84, of Rohnert Park, Calif., died Saturday, July 16, 2005, in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was born and raised in St. Louis. Cord received a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado at Boulder. William O. Cord, 84, of Rohnert Park, Calif., died Saturday, July 16, 2005, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

He was born and raised in St. Louis.

Cord received a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He moved to Sonoma County in 1963, and was dean of humanities and a professor of Spanish at Sonoma State University 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; a daughter, Kimberly Cord of Reno, Nev.; a son, Christian Cord of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, Robert Cord of Fruitland.

Service will be private.

Pleasant Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Sebastopol, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
