William Etric Castleman, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 17, 1914, in Union City, Tenn., son of Luther Clarence and Claudia Foster Castleman. He and Velma Maddox were married Feb. 9, 1933, in Fulton, Ky.
Castleman was general manager at Juvenile Shoe Co. in Aurora, Mo., Sports Specialty Shoemakers in Chaffee, Mo., and U.S. Shoe in Marionville, Mo.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau; Rotary and Kiwanis clubs in Chaffee, served on Chaffee School Board 16 years, was a former Chaffee city councilman, and was a Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Castleman of Normal, Ill.; two daughters, Betty Lowry of Houston, Texas, Peggy Hahn of Nazareth, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bryan Butler officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
