PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- William N. Brooks, 67, of Prescott died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998.
He was born Feb. 5, 1931, at Jonesboro, Ark., son of Herman and Berta Chester Brooks.
Brooks was a member of the U.S. Air Force from which he retired in 1974 after 22 years of service, including serving in Korea and three tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star for meritorious service with the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron while stationed in Thailand.
He worked as a security officer at Prescott High School for 12 years and was associated for several years with the search and rescue activities of the Yavapai County Sheriff's Posse.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen L. Brooks of Prescott; two brothers, Ted and Herman Brooks, both of De Ridder, La.; and a sister, Freeda Haimes of Jackson.
A memorial service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the Ruth Street Theater in Prescott, with Chaplain Gerald Beilstein of Prescott V.A. Medical Center officiating.
