William H. "Bill" Bogenpohl, 101, of Oak Ridge passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson.
He was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Neunert, Ill., son of Paul and Lena Kranawetter Bogenpohl. He and Wilma Irene Oehl were married Feb. 16, 1941, in Jackson. She passed away May 28, 2006.
Bill was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, Mo. He had served as a trustee at the church for many years and was a member of the men's club at the church. Bill owned and operated a farm near Oak Ridge most of his life.
Loving survivors include a son and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Janet Bogenpohl and Sharon Bogenpohl all of Oak Ridge; five grandchildren, David Bogenpohl, Sheri (Jody) Ponder, Terry (Erica Collins) Bogenpohl, Jeff (Andi Baker) Bogenpohl and Chad (Andrea) Bogenpohl; and four great-grandchildren, Devin and Reagan Ponder and Alec and Kinsley Bogenpohl.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Bogenpohl; two brothers, Ruben and Loren Bogenpohl; and a half brother, Evert Weber.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery
