SCOTT CITY--William Nicholas "Bill" Essner, 67, of Scott City, died Friday, June 9, 1995, at his home. He was born July 10, 1927, at New Hamburg, son of Louis and Leona Scherer Essner. SCOTT CITY--William Nicholas "Bill" Essner, 67, of Scott City, died Friday, June 9, 1995, at his home.

He was born July 10, 1927, at New Hamburg, son of Louis and Leona Scherer Essner. He and Gussie Hagan were married July 9, 1955, at Kelso.

Essner was employed by Ely Walker for 29 years and later retired from Procter & Gamble in 1989. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael and Kenneth Essner of Scott City; three brothers, Cletus and Paul Essner of Kelso and Eugene Essner of Brightwood, Va.; two sisters, Georgianna Essner of Kelso and Mary Catherine Mills of St. Charles; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. The Rev. Olliver Clavin will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
