Funeral service for William August "Bill" Kapfer of Kernersville, N.C., was held Monday at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Kernersville. Burial was in Eastlawn Garden of Memory Cemetery there.
Kapfer, 67, died Sunday, June 28, 1992, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Spokane, Wash. He had worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. 29 years, and at Lowe's Inc. in Cape Girardeau eight years.
Kapfer was a volunteer with International Executive Service Corp. in Brazil. He and his wife spent nine months in Papua, New Guinea, as volunteers with Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
The Kapfers had lived in Kernersville seven years. He worked with Laborers for Christ, volunteers who build churches. He was a member of Fountain of Life Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons, Douglas Kapfer of Critz, Va., Gregory Kapfer of McLean, Va.; a daughter, Laurie Katan of Oakdale, Calif.; a sister, Ann Kapfer of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Paul Kapfer of Spokane, and five grandchildren.
