KELSO, Mo. -- Wilfred Glasser, son of the late John and Katie Kern Glasser, was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Kelso and departed this life Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau at the age of 96 years.

Wilfred was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean conflict.

He was a former employee of Montgomery Ward and K-Mart. Wilfred was a lifelong resident of Kelso.

On June 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Elfrink in Chaffee, Missouri. She preceded him in death April 4, 2009.

Survivors include three sons, Kenny Glasser of Scott City, Wilfred J. Glasser of Kelso and Stephen Glasser of Blodgett, Missouri; seven daughters, Patricia Glasser of North Haven, Connecticut; Dorothy Lett and Cathy Glasser, both of Scott City; Mary Pugh and Susan Glasser, both of New Mexico; Rose Ali of West Haven; and Mildred McCormick of Tennessee; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters; one grandson, Eric Glasser; and one great-grandson, Lucas Walker.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.

Funeral Mass will celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Casteel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Scott City conducting arrangements.

The family requests face masks be worn for visitation and service.
