Wilda Louise Pogue, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 11, 1926, at Patton, Mo., the daughter of William H. and Edith Bennett Green. She married Jake R. Pogue on July 3, 1947, in St. Louis.

Pogue graduated from Patton High School in 1943 and attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She was an elementary school teacher in rural schools in Bollinger County prior to her marriage; a secretary at Hancock Place Schools in Lemay, Mo.; and an inventory management specialist at Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center in St. Louis, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau, DAV Auxiliary, Bollinger County Historical Society and the Madison County Historical Society. Formerly she belonged to Calvary Temple in Fredericktown, Mo.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Patrica E. Pogue of St. Louis, Paula E. Campbell (Ken) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, Wilma Slinkard and Pansy Slinkard of Fredericktown, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Megan and Masha Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Macil Green, who was killed in action during World War II.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dan Ross and Carl Cureton officiating.

Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Bollinger County Historical Society.
